About Us

Our Mission

We love music!

The Modern Roots Foundation was founded on, and dedicated to, a sustainable concept of linked musical prosperity through the ears and hearts of kids.

Contact us anytime! We love to discuss what musical training a child may want and what their goals may be--whether they're wanting to turn pro or just enjoy music for the rest of their life.

One of the most magical things I've every seen is the sparkle in children's eyes when they realize they've just made music. You see, music explains what words cannot, and children need to be heard.

The Modern Roots Foundation was founded on, and dedicated to, a sustainable concept of linked musical prosperity.

Social Mission: To operate in a way that actively recognizes the central role that music plays in our children's lives by initiating innovative ways to improve the distribution of music regionally, one child at a time!

Service Mission: To encourage, distribute and offer the finest quality of instruction and instrument support of American Roots-based stringed instruments to the youth market with a continued commitment to incorporating easily accessible tools.

Economic Mission: To operate our organization on a sustainable financial basis of growth, increasing value for our members and expanding opportunities for development and growth for our youth. Underlying the mission of Modern Roots Foundation is the determination to seek new and creative ways of addressing all three parts, while holding a deep respect for individuals inside and outside the organization and for the communities of which they are a part.

Special Testimonials by Special People:

"The Modern Roots Foundation is something the Anderson family feels is vital this day in age for kids. Music has been a great outlet, teaching us skills about hard work, patience, working together, and it's been a lot of fun! The Modern Roots Foundation is a wonderful thing for kids, giving them all the opportunities, skills, and enjoyment of playing and learning a musical instrument."

"Learning to play an instrument, sing or just appreciate music is a way of learning about ones self in the world beyond just the notes... MRF is helping to nurture this universal gift in young people through one of America's greatest cultural achievements - String Band Music! I wish I could have had a community and opportunity like this where I lived when I was a kid."
